Gravity Journal by Gail Sidonie Sobat

The Book: Last year Anise fought her battle with anorexia well, or so everyone thought. Now she finds herself back in 4-Psych-O under close watch. Anise turns to her journal where she is free to express her observations about the people around her, her family, and the world. Is it really worth going on and fighting this battle? Does anyone really care?

The Author: A person of many talents, Gail Sidonie Sobat wrote her first story in grade three and her first poem in grade four. Now an award-winning author and teacher, she is an instructor in the University of Alberta Faculty of Education, a teacher at the University of Alberta Hospital School, and coordinator for YouthWrite, a camp for youth interested in becoming authors.  Gail completed a Master’s degree in English at the University of Alberta in Children’s Literature, specializing in fantasy. In addition to her recent novel, Gravity, she has written fantasy for young adults, an award-winning novel for adults, and a collection of poetry. Gails website: www.gailsidoniesobat.com

  5. WOW! what an awesome book! I think this has been my favourite so far. I could totally relate to Anise. It is so sad how her mom just ignores Anise's disorder and thinks that she has nothing to do with it. I learned a lot from this book.

  9. A good book to read and help give even a slight understanding of what anorexics go through, but at the same time it is probably actually harder to go through it then you can even imagine. It also seems that it would be hard to go around approaching someone if you think they may have an eating disorder.

  10. This book was really good, it is definately one of my favourites.. It gave a pretty good insight of someone living with anorexia, although i'm sure going through it is much more difficult than we could ever know, just by reading/learning about it..
